I am getting tired of pointless censoring of the human form, because it only provokes fears of the human body. I find telling children and teenagers that viewing the naked form is shameful, indecent, immoral and traumatic is far, far more disturbing than the actual human body itself.
Seeing the human body as purely sexual and erotic reflects much more about the viewer than the body itself. If one refuses to see grace and beauty in the human form, then that person should rightly avoid images of the body. However, to censor the body only invokes notion of the body being purely sexual. If we were to show the form as beautiful, graceful and admirable, it would encourage people to see what I and many others see in the human form: elegant curves and angles, captivating reflections of personality, undeniable radiance, and countless emotional and physical aspects that words cannot express.
It is pretentious, irresponsible and ignorant to show the naked body in historical monuments and ancient sculpture, sheltered galleries, and poster prints in the back of stores and then insist that the body is obscene.
And furthermore, I find it annoyingly hypocritical to use the body in the sexual form as a means of marketing and advertising to only support their claims of it being only sexual. Of course people will continue to believe the nude body should be avoided if they are force-fed only sexual images of it. If people are shown artistic, beautiful and intriguing interpretations of the human form, perhaps this fear would be shown to be irrational.
